What are good herbal remedies for anxiety?

I am without health insurance, and suffer from moderate anxiety/depression (diagnosed by my doctor) and am looking for information on herbal or natural remedies to help calm my anxiety. I have tried st. johns wart more than once, and didn’t notice any difference, and I am looking for other herbs and such that might help, preferably with knowledge from experience.

Chosen Answer:

1) Wild Kratom (strongest and best, guaranteed to work for EVERYONE)

2) Kava-Kava (works for most, not for everyone and NO it is NOT toxic, that study was debunked and Kava is now approved by the FDA)

3) St John’s Worth (works for few, not for most)

4) Salvia (works for everyone, except it’s very tricky, as at higher doses it can cause hallucinations for up to 10 mins)

5) Marijuana (only resort to it if it’s legal in your State)

What is the difference between xanax bars & valium ?

Ive herd that valium can usually give a drunk and careless feeling while xanax bars make you more sleepy then anything ? Is this true ? Can either of these pills give the feeling of being drunk ? Witch one has a stronger feeling ? Thankyou and i appreciate the opinions and info.

Chosen Answer:

Hello! Xanax bars are 2mg. Valium usually comes in 2-5 mg, sometimes 10mg. They are both from the same class of pharmaceuticals called “benzodiazepines”. They generally have the same effect, but their chemical properties differ. Xanax is generally used for panic disorders. It has a faster onset, but a shorter duration. It gives you a feeling of calm relaxation, mild drowsiness, and can cause one to feel less inhibited. It usually takes effect within 15-20 minutes, and stays active for about 90-120 minutes. Valium is basically the same, but is a lot less potent and is more effective for social anxiety, as it’s duration lasts longer. Valium is also often prescribed for muscle spasms and muscle pain. As for the feeling of being drunk, I don’t find them to be very comparable. Although others do. The side effects of any medication have a different effect on every patient, so you’ll just have to see for yourself. Hope this was helpful!

Is it normal for valium to cause depression?

I often need to take valium for my nervous spasms in class, otherwise I cannot even keep eye contact with the instructor. Usually after I take it and when class ends, I get so depressed I can cry. I’m not usually like this, I feel like it is kind of serious sometimes…
Can valium induce this?

Chosen Answer:

Absolutely, Valium (diazepam) is a hypnotic sedative and central nervous system depressant of the benzodiazepine class of drugs, and it can also cause amnesia – not good for studying or class..

Not only can Valium cause depression, it makes existing depression worse.

Because Valium is so addictive to your system, when the dose begins to wear off, you immediately feel detox symptoms including depression. New studies show it takes more than 6 months valium-free to recover, and some peopole never fully return to normal after the benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome.

Valium is one of the most frequently prescribed medications in the world for the past 40 years.

Whats the difference between bromzepam and valium?

I was given bromazepam by a doctor to take on a flight as I am scared of flying, I am usually given valium, what is the difference?
Bromazepam, not diazepam

Chosen Answer:

bromazepam is a derivative of a group of drugs called benzodiazepines, used for anxiety, insomnia, alcohol withdrawl. it’s not available in the us as it’s potentially more addictive than traditional benzos.

valium is also a benzo derivative, available in the us, used for the same plus may have an antiseizure, antipsychotic, and antidepressant effect. carries the same risks as other benzodiazepines but may not be as potentially harmful.

the two drugs are very similar in structure but vary ever so slightly.

How effective is 5mg of Valium to relax a needle-phobe before getting an IV?

I have to get an IV to remove my wisdom teeth and am being prescribed 5mg valium to help with anxiety. How much will this relax me or can I still kick and scream when they try and stick the needle in me?

Chosen Answer:

i’m sure you’ll do just fine. dont kick or scream at them, as this is a sure way to hurt yourself and others. try to think of something else and look away when they do it. it’s really not that bad, really. and you’ll want that iv….i promise. distraction is a powerful tool. just ask one of the nurses to really distract you by talking and concentrate on breathing and don’t look.

but valium won’t sedate you completely, if that’s what your asking. it will make you feel calm and sleepy, thus making you lees willing to put up a fight.

How do I get rid of anxiety towards a certain person?

We met online, we met in person, something happened and now I have anxiety. How do I get rid of the anxiety? I still want to get back with my family.

Chosen Answer:

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.
Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI – Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There’s this strange herb called “St John’s Wort” – it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John’s Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.
The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced… you have that “learned behavior” in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior – Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction… There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to….

Is it ok to take Valium before getting tattooed?

Every time I get a tattoo I feel faint and my heart races, obviously because of the adrenaline. But its embarrassing because its not like I cant handle it, its just my body going into shock or something. So I thought maybe if I took a couple of Valium before getting my next one, my body might calm down enough so I dont almost pass out!! Just wanna know if there’s any reason why I shouldn’t do this.

Chosen Answer:

Valium is a relaxant and a blood thinner. It is not a good idea to take before any procedure like a tattoo or piercing because, not just the excessive bleeding, but you tend to dwell on the pain more – rather than less – because you are medicated and having a hard time concentrating on NOT being in pain. Not only this, but if you do become ill, you will be in such a state of relaxation that your artist may not know. There is also an INCREASED chance of fainting because your body is relaxed due to the medication.

How long does it take valium to clear out of your system?

I am hopeful that I will be getting a job for which I am going interview. I anticipate that a drug test will be required. I take valium (as needed). I do have a prescription, but I don’t necessarily want my potential employer to know that I take it. I also take antidepressants. Will they test for this as well?

I really feel like this is an invasion of my privacy.

Chosen Answer:

They don’t test for Valium and antidepressants. They only test for illegal drugs. The half life of Valium is 50 hrs.

What is the difference between Social Anxiety Disorder and fear of public speaking?

For example, studies show that about 8% of people have Social Anxiety, while more than 90% of people have a fear of public speaking. At what point do we cross the line? Also, what are some common calling cards for social anxiety? Thanks!

Chosen Answer:

The difference is the 90% of people who have fear of public speaking have NO IDEA what it’s like to overcome public speaking with social anxiety. I think the 8% statistic is actually higher, but everyone gets nervous talking in front of people. I refused to do it until I had to take a public speaking class for my college major. For me, I ended up taking Prozac, it helped a lot but it’s not for everyone.
