What does a person do that has severe anxiety and social phobia?

I have many physical symptoms. They worsen when I go to places like the grocery store. My vision gets weird and I feel like I can’t focus. I have a past history of alcohol problems. I have been sober for about 2 yrs. I don’t know what to do anymore though because I haven’t ever had a real job, I dropped out of college, and I have tried anti-depressants and they didn’t work for me even at high doses. I have also gone to therapy and read an anxiety work book. I feel very hopeless. Can anyone recommend something I could try that might help it. I used to just try and hide my anxiety. It is to the point where if I am out with a friend they notice and ask if I am ok.
I am not a violent person. I am a wife and mother of two children. What happened at Va Tech was very sad. I am and never will be a person like that. That comment was very rude and uncalled for.

Sounds to me like you could have a case of depersonalization/derealization. It’s a very common disorder that is caused by anxiety. You may have developed it when you quit drinking. I have suffered from it for close to six months because of an anxiety attack from a bad trip. It has slowly gotten better and better, and is pretty close to being gone for me. The best thing you can do is to keep yourself calm when faced with a bad situation. It will take a lot of time unfortunately, but will eventually go away as long as you don’t let your anxiety control you. Here is a link to a forum that will help you understand and cope with the disorder so you can get rid of it.

Are there any medications like valium that are available over the counter?

Is there any medication similar to VALIUM that is available over the counter????
I usually need it before I go on the plane, or experience something like Parasailing to calm myself down. Everyone mentions Kava Kava and St. John’s Wort….I think those are more anti-depressants? Correct?

Any information/medications you know o but f? Thank you.

Chosen Answer:

5HTP would be a good natural anti-depressant. But everyone telling you about Kava Kava is spot on the nose. It’s natural valium. I keep it at work with me for bad days (I’m a nurse in a juvenile detention facility), and it calms me right down. Pick up a bottle and try it before your next nerve wracking situation. By the way, parasailing? Isn’t that, like, voluntary? Why would you purposefully enter a situation you know will upset you? If you’re doing it for the adrenaline rush, then DON’T take Kava Kava. You’ll be too relaxed to enjoy the rush!

Is it bad for a human to take Valium that was prescribed for a dog?

It has the same chemical components, so I am just wondering if humans could take it.

And no, I don’t have dog Valium and am not planning on taking dog Valium, I am just curious. I have Klonopin and it works just fine.
And when I say could take it I mean could take it safely

Chosen Answer:

humans take valium all the time. the dosing is different for humans and animals.

How can you get a teenager over her anxiety?

She has anxiety she is 13 she is going to therapy has only gone twice. But has anyone had anxiety over knives and would not even get silverware out of the silverware drawer. That’s what she is doing. Has anyone had this or something like this. Will she get over it as she matures? I am just curious, because I asked her today to get the spoon and she would not because of the knives in the drawer with the rest of the silverware.

Chosen Answer:

There are a number of things you can do to eliminate anxiety naturally without using medications. Bottom line is anxiety is caused by your negative THOUGHTS (either subconscious or conscious thoughts). By mastering your thinking you can eliminate or reduce anxiety.

Below are some proven methods you can use:

1) Meditation is proven to help reduce anxiety and is also not difficult to learn. 10 minutes a day is all that is required to help calm your mind

2) Self Hypnosis: This can help but may be difficult to learn and does not work for everyone, but it is shown to help

3) Repeating Positive Affirmations: The best time to do this is at night before bed or in the morning when you wake up. About 5 to 7 minutes is all you need.

4) Program your mind so your subconscious (or conscious) thoughts to become more positive. There are a number of great self help programs that can help you do this.

How can i explain my anxiety to my fiance that I’m about to marry next weeK?

I keep obsessing over my tmj. I get tense, heart rate increases, dizziness. He does’nt understand anxiety and it’s pretty severe right now. Waiting for the Zoloft to kick back in. How do I explain this to him?

Chosen Answer:

Take him to your Dr / Therapist. He needs to start UNDERSTANDING and showing interest in your health if he is marrying you. Do not try to hide this from him. It’s a matter of honesty about who you are.

How long are you supposed to take anti anxiety medication and can it stop your abnormal anxiety for good?

I’d like to know generally how anti anxiety medications work, how long one is supposed to take them, and how a person or a doctor knows when is the right time to stop the medication.
If the anxiety is due to a chemical imbalance, does that mean the meds must be taken forever?

Chosen Answer:

Are they selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors? They build up to a maximum therapeutic level, and slowly become less and less effective as time goes on. It depends on the drug, but they are not a permanent solution. They help break the cycle of anxiety, but it is necessary to change the circumstances that provoked the anxiety to begin with. Otherwise it is likely to happen again. The doctor should have told you how long to continue with the course of treatment, or at least have advised you of the typical duration.

How to act as though I have severe anxiety?

I need to act as though I have severe anxiety. I’m at college studying drama and performing arts and it’s crucial for this new role. I’m acting the part of a troubled middle age man who suffers with anxiety and Bipolar disorder. Any tips?

Chosen Answer:

I have a anxiety disorder so if I was you I would be really happy and jolly then sudden outburst with anger at someone or something when something happens, when you are anxious you feel like you are excited about something, remember a time like this then remember the feeling 100x more powerful, it’s horrible but if your acting. You have to shake a lot, be clumsy, talk shakily, move around a lot and try to always sit down. Hope this helps you!

How does Klonopin compare with Valium and Xanax?

I am having a lot of dental work done and really don’t like Xanax and Valium has no effect on me. What can I take?

Chosen Answer:

Klonopin is generally stronger than Valium, but weaker than xanax. They are similar in the sense that they are all benzodiazapines.

I need Valium for a bad back that keeps me awake at night and causes stress?

I injured my back a few months ago the doctor has prescribed me lots of different pain killers and sleeping tablets. But the only ones I found effective for getting to sleep and relieving my back were Valium. But my doctor only prescribed them for a week, And will not prescribe more due to their addictiveness. Please someone tell me a legitimate web site that will send me real valium.

Chosen Answer:

Your doctor know much more about Valium than you can imagine. Taking it for pain and sleep for more than a week is a very bad idea. You have absolutely no clue how terribly addictive Valium is, or how bad the withdrawals can be.

Follow your doctors advice and avoid the valium. Work with him to find other medications that work. Taking benzos or z-drugs (ambien) for sleep for more than a week is an extremely bad idea.

And to answer your question, there are no legitimate web sites that sell real valium. It is a controlled substance, and you can only get a prescription from your doctor.
