How can i get my Dr. To switch me from klonopin to Valium?

Im currently prescribed klonopin and i was wondering how i can get my doc to switch me to valium. I know valium has more sedating effects so im thinking that telling him i need something more relaxing and calming should do the trick. Thoughts?

Chosen Answer:

First of all, I can tell you with all certainty that your Dr. will not “switch” you to valium. Not sure how long you have been on the Klonopin. No doctor would risk losing his/her license for prescribing Valium under the circumstances that you have described.

How can a person suffering from anxiety make and go to a therapy appointment?

I feel like the anxiety over calling and going is so overwhelming. I want help but at the same time I can’t deal with the anxiety associated with going. I feel like I might be able to hide it at first but I don’t want to break down or drive there and then sit in the parking lot frozen by anxiety.

And mind over matter doesn’t help…as I’m sure those of you dealing with anxiety know. I’ve tried to feel different, I just can’t seem to.

Chosen Answer:

Call your local hospital outpatient clinic and state your issues and say you would like to see someone. This would be a lot easier than picking one out of the phone book, or maybe you already have one in mind. Your anxiety can be helped greatly by therapy and medication and you need to comfort yourself with these thoughts. When you get in there and start talking about whats bothering you, you will start to feel a little less anxiety. Is there some major problem in your life right now, like death of a loved one, or something else traumatic that happened to you? Your probably like me and have a genetic predisposition to having anxiety but there is most likely something in your life making it worse, think about what that is and write about, cry about it, think about and start dealing with it. Plus stay far away from any stimulants, like coffee, tea, soda with caffeine.

How do people with Social Anxiety Disorder function in college?

Because i’m planning on going to a good college (Cleveland State University) when i grad in a couple years from high school. And i have Social Anxiety Disorder and i would like to know how people with this disorder generally function in college.

Chosen Answer:

Hi, I have social anxiety and am in first year college so i completely understand you. The first day i wasn’t nervous at all because everyone was new and alone there and i felt that since old high school people weren’t there, i wouldn’t have to worry because everyone seemed alone and awkward. Class is overall easy, because from my experience there isn’t a lot of pointing “ok, you. answer!” like in high school, basically whoever puts up your hand. I will admit it is hard to make friends, i have only made one friend in a year, but i feel that one is better than none :)
Just try to make conversation with whoever is beside you, just say “Hey, how do you think you did on the test? or Hey, can i borrow a pen?”(yes its hard, i couldn’t do it lol, maybe you can though?)
Just try to stay calm and relaxed, and take things slow, socially.
Good Luck!

I have extremely bad case of social anxiety, besides medication and therapy are there other ways to overcome i?

I didn’t know what it was at first I thought it was just “shyness” and that I would grow out of it well I developed social anxiety. I consider it a extreme case because it causes skip classes (college) to avoid during presentation and other “social activities”. I was actually suppose to graduate already but I’m still in school because this issue. My major is social work irronically and I don’t want to change it because I really want to help people but it would be impossible to do with the level of anxiety I feel in social settings.

Chosen Answer:

you can overcome this……..i have………listen to your therapist……it takes work……..it is awful having it…….It still crops up occassionally when I am shopping in a mall or in a grocery store. Basically you have to expose yourself to what is uncomfortable. I started at first just imagining being in a social situation…..that even made me uncomfortable. Just the thought of it. Then you work your way slowly…….exposing yourself to uncomfortable situations. the funny thing is after a while because you have practiced it………it isn’t uncomfortable anymore. finish the degree and you’ll figure it out after you graduate. good luck :)

anxiety….?

I have really bad anxity i have had it on and on for about 2 years. basically when imk unemployed..i havde triued herbal tablets but they dont help as much as perscription meds. But the downfall is they make me so drowzy. What can i do?.

Chosen Answer:

First, seek professional help – if you can’t pay, you can still get the help from a local government agency! Check your area!
Second, if you have prescription meds, it’s because a Doctor prescribed them for you. Go back to the Doctor and explain why they are not working for you – stop taking “self medication” which is the herbal stuff. Some herbals have steroids and can and will harm you!
Third, create changes in your life! Even the smallest most inconsequential positive things will lead to bigger and better things for you – when you wake up in the morning promise yourself you will smile at least 100 times that day – no matter what! Smile even if things really aren’t going all that well – SMILE!
Forth, pick one item and make a small change in your diet – if you drink a certain amout of coffee, coke, beer or wine each day – drink a little less and each day less until you no longer consume any.
Five, YOU will notice the changes yourself because it will reflect in your attitude and personality – so go with the flow!

Good luck!

Why would I be shaky like I am shivering and valium makes it completely go away?

I’ve had several symptoms for about a week now, it appears my fever has finally gone away but I am still shaky and that causes me to feel anxious and some other things. I noticed it was the week before my menstrual cycle started and im on my very first day of it and it hasnt gone away yet but valium does work. This is the first time I’ve had really bad cramps with a period too. Could it be my hormones having problems?? What do you think?
Dr just called and said I have white blood cells in my urine so I have a bladder infection, could this relate?

Chosen Answer:

Anxiety is a body reaction to something off balance.
Do NOT keep taking valium… depending on drugs or drinks is just a cop out for learning to cope.

The more you learn to cope with things NOW, the better your chances for a full and great life.

How soon after taking Valium can I drink alcohol?

I’ve been prescribed 2mg of Valium for a fear of flying. My flight is at 5am and I’m going to take either 1 or 2 tabs of Valium. Could I perhaps drink that night? Or maybe the day after? Bearing in mind this’ll be my first and only (apart from the return flight) time taking it.

Thanks

Call your doctor’s office and ask. That’s what you pay him for.

Can overdosing on valium make your period late?

I took 30 Valium last week and I am 3 days late on my period. My period always comes on time. Like right when it’s supposed to. I had sex for the first time on July 4, but he didn’t (burst) if you know what I mean. So could overdosing on valium be the problem?

My last period was June 7, 2011
It was supposed to come the 5th of this month. SOMEONE please give me some insight.
