How long does Valium stay in your system?

My dog has panic attacks and we give him Valium to calm him down but we don’t know how long it stays in his system so we never know when to give him more

Chosen Answer:

This is a human medicine forum. I can tell you about human metabolization of drugs, but I have no idea if it would be the same in a dog. They have slightly different body chemistry than humans, and process drugs differently. May I suggest you ask this question on a veterinary board? You would probably find a Vet who could answer your question. I certainly wouldn’t want to be responsible for killing your dog by giving you the wrong answer.

I would like to be prescribed valium for my anxiety, what are the odds of approval?

Im 14 years old and want to be prescribed valium for my minor depression and anxiety. I did alot of research on the web and found that valium could be a helpful outlet of dealing with my anxiety.

Chosen Answer:

Prolly pretty slim.
It’s very addicting and you will prolly have to try other anxiolytics before a dr will give you that one.

It’s really hard to come off of and very easy to abuse.

Yes, it’s really helpful, but it’s usually for short-tern anxiety/insomnia. Longer term use of Benzos is typically for other reasons (like sleep-thrashing; PLMS, etc.)

What is the main difference between valium and xanax?

I already know what bezo’s are so dont put Benzo’s are…..

I just wanna know the different feelings they give you……………
And dont say….Benzo’s are bad dont take them cause I have for 5 years taken xanax know im being switched to valium…..

Chosen Answer:

Xanax is very short acting. Valium takes many hours to clear your system. Otherwise they have very similar properties: calms you, makes you sleepy, reduces anxiety, and relaxes muscles.

What medication should I take instead of Xanax or Valium?

Xanax just puts me to sleep and Valium is addictive. I’m always on edge and go through periods of depression and I tend to get angry at work. What can I take that will allow me to function at work and calm my nerves at the same time?

Chosen Answer:

My new dr made me give up years of taking klonopin- it’s just like xanax or valium.
I had a major hard time getting off it.

BUT
He put me on Lexapro and wowwwwwww… I never knew how good life could be!
It’s an anti depressant also approved for Anxiety.

Amazing stuff.

Ask your dr. Don’t take that addictive stuff.
one pill at night does it for me and even helps me sleep.

How do deal with anxiety and stress with High Blood Pressure?

I have high blood pressure and sometimes have trouble falling asleep and I have problems dealing with stress and anxiety. Can anyone give me any tips?

Thanks!

Chosen Answer:

Below are some proven methods you can use to reduce or eliminate anxiety:

a) Meditation is proven to help reduce anxiety and is also not difficult to learn. 10 minutes a day is all that is required to help calm your mind

b) Self Hypnosis: You should buy a good book on this and learn self hypnosis

c) Repeating Positive Affirmations: The best time to do this is at night before bed or in the morning when you wake up. About 7 to 8 minutes is all you need.

d) Try to learn the root cause of your anxiety. For example I use to be scared of the dark, and learned I was accidentally locked in a dark basement as a child. As soon as I learned this my fear of the dark immediately went away.

Is it possible to take homeopathic remedies with Valium at the same time?

It is for performance anxiety – have tried Gelsemium before but wondering could I take it with 5mg Valium to make sure. Have huge presentation to give and super nervous.

Chosen Answer:

Homeopathic remedies basically don’t have any interactions with drugs, so as long as your doctor prescribed the Valium to you and you’ve used it before (just to make sure you know how your body responds), you should have no problem at all.

Can overdosing on valium make your period late?

I took 30 Valium last week and I am 3 days late on my period. My period always comes on time. Like right when it’s supposed to. I had sex for the first time on July 4, but he didn’t (burst) if you know what I mean. So could overdosing on valium be the problem?

My last period was June 7, 2011
It was supposed to come the 5th of this month. SOMEONE please give me some insight.

How convince my docter to give me some valium?

Xanax, valium, diazipan, whatever just something to help me with my anxiety. Long term drugs have side affects on me.

Chosen Answer:

A good GP will not prescribe you with Valium or any of the Benzo’s. They are a poor form of anxiety management. The risks from taking Benzo’s simply outweigh the benefits and there is very little benefit to be gained from taking these drugs in the first place.

Tolerance to these types of drugs will develop very quickly. You only have to take this drug for an average of 3 or 4 days in a row and you will experience some degree of withdrawal.

An SSRI and CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy), which has a 70% success rate is far more beneficial.

What is the difference between xanax bars & valium ?

Ive herd that valium can usually give a drunk and careless feeling while xanax bars make you more sleepy then anything ? Is this true ? Can either of these pills give the feeling of being drunk ? Witch one has a stronger feeling ? Thankyou and i appreciate the opinions and info.

Chosen Answer:

Hello! Xanax bars are 2mg. Valium usually comes in 2-5 mg, sometimes 10mg. They are both from the same class of pharmaceuticals called “benzodiazepines”. They generally have the same effect, but their chemical properties differ. Xanax is generally used for panic disorders. It has a faster onset, but a shorter duration. It gives you a feeling of calm relaxation, mild drowsiness, and can cause one to feel less inhibited. It usually takes effect within 15-20 minutes, and stays active for about 90-120 minutes. Valium is basically the same, but is a lot less potent and is more effective for social anxiety, as it’s duration lasts longer. Valium is also often prescribed for muscle spasms and muscle pain. As for the feeling of being drunk, I don’t find them to be very comparable. Although others do. The side effects of any medication have a different effect on every patient, so you’ll just have to see for yourself. Hope this was helpful!

How do i reduce anxiety about going for a driving test?

I have a driving test in 3 weeks time, the only problem is I am suffering bad anxiety at the moment, do you think I would be better putting my test of until i get help for my anxiety or is there a way i can manage my anxiety on the test day so that i don’t get too nervous, is there any techniques i could use to reduce the anxiety on test day?

Chosen Answer:

I had the same thing when I went for my test on the 7th.

I went the first time on March 26th, I was a little nervous, went through the test fine until I failed because some moron didn’t give me the right of way. On April 7th I went again and I was SOO nervous. I bawled my eyes out an hour before, it was raining, there was an accident at one end of the town and road construction on the other. But I did just fine and I passed. The instructors KNOW your nervous.

When I was in the car with the instructor I kept telling myself that he was just some guy who was giving directions to his house and I had to drop him off. When that didnt work I told myself, Hey no one knows me in this place anyway so whatever.

Back to your question.

Deep Breathing, and just put your mind somewhere else. The more you think about it the more nervous you will get. And I don’t recommend putting it off, you’ll always be nervous about it and you’ll never be ready for it until test day.

Just think, years from now, you’ll be telling your kids how you did on the test.
