How to ease the separation anxiety of a mother dog from her puppies?

I have a chihuahua who had 3 puppies a few months back. Now that they are weened, I’ll be giving them to various family members. I’m worried that she’ll experience a lot of anxiety over this. Are there any ways to ease this? Will she get over having her puppies taken away from her?

Chosen Answer:

Yep, after having many litters myself I can tell you that the best thing that you can do is to leave a few small stuffed toys around her.
She will more than likely start carrying them around and nesting them as she would her pups.
This will only go on for a short while and she will get over it.
Good Luck and God Bless

How can I get my anxiety and panic attacks under control?

I’ve been struggling with panic attacks and anxiety for the past week, after not having them for three years. Are there any helpful tips that can help me deal?

Chosen Answer:

Go to the doctors. It might be stress. Have you’ve been very stressed lately?

Anxiety…?

I am a wreck. I can’t sleep at night without calling my Mom at least once and saying, “I love you” a million times. I’m afraid something will happen to me or my family and I not there to say good-bye. I always look out my bedroom window at night to see if anything unusual is in the sky. My mom can’t be out more than two hours without me having to call her (when I stay home alone). I hate this experince! It is very frightening and I have even considered taking prescribtion medicine to wave away those types of thoughts. I have talked numerously to the school counselour, but my mind is no where near ease. I never had this anxiety (disorder) last year. It came from no where! What can I do to clear away my anxiety? (P.S. Last night, I had a dream my Dad got shot and this man walked up and said he died, but then I practically jumped awake).

Chosen Answer:

The good news is that anxiety generally responds VERY well to treatment.

There are a number of ways to go about it, but first – I would suggest you speak with your doctor to work out a plan.

You can do biofeedback, meditation (sounds true has a CD called anxiety relief that is terrific), yoga.

You can work with a cognitive-behavioral therapist who can help you get your thinking on track.

And then, there are a LOT of different meds. Some anti-depressants can be if you’re a teen this may not be the best course. There are anti-anxiety meds and then there is propranalol which inhibits the body from having anxiety reactions – so you may start to feel anxious but when your heart doesn’t race and you don’t get a stomach ache, it stops the chain of anxiety and you’re fine.

Or…you might wind up doing a combination of things. just speak with your doctor. This is totally workable!

Anxiety???

Does anyone here have diagnosed anxiety disorders? Do you know any support groups? Have you recovered/improved and how? I have generalized anxiety, panic, and OCD. I’m doing cognitive therapy, but I know having someone understanding would help a great deal. Thanks for any advice.
By the way, I’m in my late twenties and have had anxiety since I can remember (around age 4 or 5).

I do… I am battling it every day. It is so hard… and I feel like I can’t talk to anyone about it! I have a great doctor, so she helps some. I hear going to a conslr. can help, but i feel uncomfortable with that, just isn’t for me. There are lots of online support groups. I think ivillage can be a great resource. Even things like drinking herbal tea, getting sunshine, getting “pampered” at a spa could help. Yoga and meditation have helped me. Also, email me :) I’d love to chat!

anxiety ?

so i think i have anxiety but not sure or it could even be depression..

like i have bad thoughts and i mostly think about it when im away from my mom. or just anyone. it normally is about scary things like the world and all thats in it..

it goes away but comes back.
i tried changing my life around. like doing things differnt but it always comes back.

iv been having these feelings for awhile (a couple months) and i dont know what to do about it.

i seriously need help. or i dont know how much more i can take.

Chosen Answer:

I have anxiety and this is not one of my symptoms or even a classic symptom of it. Could be depression though, since you think of scary things. You probably need to seek out some help for a diagnosis and some medication. Sweets, don’t stress on this at all, lots of people think about scary things, you may be at the beginning of an anxiety disorder or depression. Talk to someone, your Mom would be the first one to talk to about this. You will be fine though!

How does Klonopin compare with Valium and Xanax?

I am having a lot of dental work done and really don’t like Xanax and Valium has no effect on me. What can I take?

Chosen Answer:

Klonopin is generally stronger than Valium, but weaker than xanax. They are similar in the sense that they are all benzodiazapines.

How can I overcome social anxiety in order to ride the bus to the psychiatrist?

I have really bad anger issues and social anxiety, and depression problems. I used to be on meds but I’m not anymore, and the symptoms are back. Im 20 and I cant be depending on my mom for rides. How can I take a bus or train without having a panic attack? People think I’m lazy because I only want rides, it angers me because that is not the case at all. Please help.

Chosen Answer:

Don’t look at anyone, and imagine you’re in your own little world, even thought that sounds crazy. Just ignore it and count to ten everytime you panic.

How do you handle anxiety while waiting for an important college-admission decision?

The applications themselves are okay because proactive, but the waiting period is brutal. I’m having insomnia, anxiety dreams, fits of listless apathy, existential crises, flights of panic. It’s lovely. Anyone have some tips on how to deal?

Chosen Answer:

I think just being able to talk to someone about it will help. I’m waiting to hear about my college of music auditions and it is BRUTAL. I used to have nightmares almost every night, when I could get to sleep, but I started talking about it with my councilor and friends and it has really helped.

Good luck on getting in!
