Anxiety-I know working out is suppose to help. Any other ideas?
Sleeping- I know warm milk , don’t eat heavy foods befor bed. Any thing else?
This is also when TTC.
But while trying to conceive what is good?

There are a number of things you can do to eliminate anxiety naturally without using medications. Bottom line is anxiety is caused by your negative THOUGHTS (either subconscious or conscious thoughts). By mastering your thinking you can eliminate or reduce anxiety.

Below are some proven methods you can use to reduce or eliminate anxiety:

a) Meditation is proven to help reduce anxiety and is also not difficult to learn. 10 minutes a day is all that is required to help calm your mind

b) Self Hypnosis: You should buy a good book on this and learn self hypnosis

c) Repeating Positive Affirmations: The best time to do this is at night before bed or in the morning when you wake up. About 7 to 8 minutes is all you need.

d) Try to learn the root cause of your anxiety. For example I use to be scared of the dark, and learned I was accidentally locked in a dark basement as a child. As soon as I learned this my fear of the dark immediately went away.

What does Valium do and how does it make you feel?

I have to have oral surgery in mid April and they called in Valium for me to take an hour before the procedure. I heard it makes you really sleepy and will relax you. Has anyone taken it before that can tell me more about how it makes you feel?
Thanks!

hanna valium is in a class of drugs called benzodiazapines, (check spelling oops) i was taught in pre med pharmachology it has very good muscle relaxation properties and takes away anxieties like from going to the dentist. some people have told me when i worked in the emergency room that it was a great feeling for them but i never liked it. but i am weird that a way. u will probably get a long fine with it and sleep like u never sleep before.

what is the difference between valium and zoloft?

I am curious as to what is the basic difference between valium and zoloft, and their effects.

Thanks

Chosen Answer:

Valium is a “calming” drug. It attacks the nerves in your brain to produce a calming affect on your body. Used for Anxiety… withdrawal symptoms.. etc. Zoloft is more of an Anti Depressant that increases your bodies serotonin levels which increases “happiness” which also helps you sleep better, treated for OCD issues and things like that. Hope that helps! Here is more info on it…Hope this helps!

How often can you take valium?

So I am getting a dental procedure done tomorrow and my doctor prescribed me two valium pills, one to take an hour before bed and the other to take an hour before the procedure. I was caught with some school work all night and took the one before bed just a few minutes ago at 1am. The procedure is at 7:30, so I will need to take the other one at 6:30am. That is only five and a half hours from now, so I am wondering if this is safe and how long it takes valium to wear off? Thanks for any help!

Anxiety???

Does anyone here have diagnosed anxiety disorders? Do you know any support groups? Have you recovered/improved and how? I have generalized anxiety, panic, and OCD. I’m doing cognitive therapy, but I know having someone understanding would help a great deal. Thanks for any advice.
By the way, I’m in my late twenties and have had anxiety since I can remember (around age 4 or 5).

I do… I am battling it every day. It is so hard… and I feel like I can’t talk to anyone about it! I have a great doctor, so she helps some. I hear going to a conslr. can help, but i feel uncomfortable with that, just isn’t for me. There are lots of online support groups. I think ivillage can be a great resource. Even things like drinking herbal tea, getting sunshine, getting “pampered” at a spa could help. Yoga and meditation have helped me. Also, email me :) I’d love to chat!

How soon after taking Valium can I drink alcohol?

I’ve been prescribed 2mg of Valium for a fear of flying. My flight is at 5am and I’m going to take either 1 or 2 tabs of Valium. Could I perhaps drink that night? Or maybe the day after? Bearing in mind this’ll be my first and only (apart from the return flight) time taking it.

Thanks

Call your doctor’s office and ask. That’s what you pay him for.

How to not get tolerant on benzodiazepines (Rivotril and Valium)?

I have a problem with anxiety and insomnia. Now my doctor prescribed me Valium and Rivotril. However I read that they can become tolerant and addictive and then I have to take higher doses. Can I prevent this from happening by taking it every second day or would it suffice if I only leave it out on the weekends? Or should I take valium one day and rivotril on the next day? Thanks for your help.

Oh dear it’s 2am here and Rhianna is still trying to get me to save the world. I long since realized that was not possible, but she has persuaded me to comment on your question.

I am retired now so I can start my answer with a very not professional ARGHHHHH!

Until the 1900s doctors, bless their cotton socks, thought it was a good idea to prescribe laudanum for insomnia and anxiety, basically opium! It was fashionable and to be frank they had little else. In 1903, the first barbiturate (“barbital”) was used in medical practices. In 1912, a common barbiturate, Phenobarbital, was introduced. This was hailed as a huge medical breakthrough allowing doctors to stop using those terrible opiates which were so addictive.

The first benzodiazepine, chlordiazepoxide (trade name Librium), was discovered accidentally in 1955, and made available in 1960 and diazepam (Valium) since 1963. Doctors thought these were marvelous and it allowed them to replace those terrible and addictive barbiturates.

Good news in 1986 for treatment of insomnia nonbenzodiazepines, which include zolpidem, zaleplon, eszopiclone, and ramelteon were introduced. These enabled doctors to change from those nasty addictive benzodiazepines. These nonbenzodiazepines are now known to be so addictive that Valium is used to wean patients off them.

I guess you see the pattern the poor patient is little better off than he was in 1900 taking his laudanum.

Of the 2 drugs you have been given Rivotril, clonazepam, is the most addictive, and as Rhianna noted only used for epilepsy in the UK, and thus FYI has the highest street value. Neither improve insomnia. Chronic users statistically get off to sleep on average 20 minutes sooner and stay asleep for 30 minutes longer than they did before they started any medication. By far your best option is to get your GP to wean you off both drugs, this is usually done by converting to Valium alone and then gradually reducing the dose.

Best management for anxiety, which causes your insomnia, unquestionably CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy, no medication, with a 70% cure rate.

doctors can you tell me the difference between anti anxiety pills and valium?

i thought they have the same effect ,does valium just relax you or take the edge off?under what circumstances can you request valium on prescription from a doctor?thanks

Chosen Answer:

Valium (diazepam) is a benzodiazepine and as such is one of the drugs used to treat anxiety disorders. There are other classes of drugs also used to treat these disorders, as well. You can always ask, but your doctor may think another class of drug is more appropriate, or if he chooses a benzodiazepine he may think another in the class is a better choice. Asking specifically for Valium is likely to look something like a kid throwing a fit for mom to buy him a toy, considering how little you know about the treatment options, mechanisms of action, and adverse effect profiles. The doctor is, after all, the expert here. That’s why he’s the one with the prescription pad.

What is the best mediation for generalized anxiety disorder?

I have been taking zoloft and klonopin for anxiety for a while and I think it is no longer helping enough. I am thinking of switching to a different ssri and ativan (instead of klonopin). Any suggestions on what the best med is for generalized anxiety disorder. Thanks!

Chosen Answer:

Try smoking pot. MUCH less dangerous than the drugs you are taking now.
