Will Valium decrease the effectiveness of Birth Control?

I was just wondering if there are any possible drug interactions with oral birth control medication and Valium. Would there be a possibility of decreasing the effectiveness of the birth control because of such an interaction?

Chosen Answer:

It should be fine. The things you have to worry about interacting with your birth control pills are antifungals, antibiotics, and antiseizure meds. Valium is okay.

I would, however, suggest you take them at different times of day if possible. Both of them can upset your stomach, and if you throw up your birth control pill, that *will* lower its effectiveness.

How can i get my Dr. To switch me from klonopin to Valium?

Im currently prescribed klonopin and i was wondering how i can get my doc to switch me to valium. I know valium has more sedating effects so im thinking that telling him i need something more relaxing and calming should do the trick. Thoughts?

Chosen Answer:

First of all, I can tell you with all certainty that your Dr. will not “switch” you to valium. Not sure how long you have been on the Klonopin. No doctor would risk losing his/her license for prescribing Valium under the circumstances that you have described.

How often can you take valium?

So I am getting a dental procedure done tomorrow and my doctor prescribed me two valium pills, one to take an hour before bed and the other to take an hour before the procedure. I was caught with some school work all night and took the one before bed just a few minutes ago at 1am. The procedure is at 7:30, so I will need to take the other one at 6:30am. That is only five and a half hours from now, so I am wondering if this is safe and how long it takes valium to wear off? Thanks for any help!

Chosen Answer:

How mgs? Either way it should be completely fine.

Is there a place I can buy the original Next to Normal Valium shirt?

I know that it’s been discontinued, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a place where I could buy the original “Valium is my Favorite Color” shirt from the musical Next to Normal?

I couldn’t find anything when I did some research, and I desperately want it.

The purple shirt with the tablets on it, not a shirt with simply the quote.

If anyone has anything, please help!

What are the effects of the drug Valium?

I was recently prescribed the drug Valium from my Doctor. I was am being prescribed Valium for bouts with anxiety and nervousness. I was just wondering if anyone had any information on this particular drug including side effects and normal effects. Also does this drug has the potential for recreational use or abuse?

Chosen Answer:

My aunt is prescribed that for anxiety and she gave me one cuz I saw her acting all floaty and I wanted to have in, it kicks in like 30 mins after you take it, you start to feel all drunk and floaty, with a not-give-a-fcuk attitude..i was smoking weed walking around my house naked just cuz i just didn’t give a fcuk lol then all of sudden the drowsiness overcomes you and you feel heavy, wake up the next day tired as hell, at least I did, but if you do have an anxiety problem, it will probably just help it and take the edge off. I know a lot of people who take it for fun though, I can’t, I get too ballsy lol

Is there any other medicine out there that can subsitute for valium?

I was wondering if there was any other medicine out there that you can take to subsitute for valium.

Chosen Answer:

Long term use of Valium is addictive. Therefore, you might want to revisit the reason you are taking it. Do you really need to take it any more? The body develops a tolerance over time and it may be that you don’t need it. you must go off of it slowly.
As far as a substitute is concerned, you must discuss with your doctor the original reasons for taking it. If it is due to anxiety your doctor might try newer and more effective medicines in the anti-depressent category.
The question of substitute really is better rephrased by saying
re-evaluate your need for it and then establish what the best medicine is available.

What’s the difference between the drug Valium & Xanax? Are they both tranquilizers? Whats the difference?

I suffer from Depression and Panic attacks, I have tryed Xanax and am wondering about the affects of Valium? I hear people who are stressed out say “I need a valium”

Chosen Answer:

They are in the same category of drug, which is the anti-anxyolitic (they are used to moderate anxiety). Valium is older and comes in doses of 2 mg., 5 mg. and 10 mg. Xanax is newer and comes in smaller doses. Xanax may be more addicting, but they both work well for treating panic attacks. The problem is, they don’t work indefinitely at the same dose (the body builds a tolerance for them), and you should avoid drinking alcohol while taking them, as this could result in a black out or in serious problems with judgment (especially around heavy machinery).

Is it bad for a human to take Valium that was prescribed for a dog?

It has the same chemical components, so I am just wondering if humans could take it.

And no, I don’t have dog Valium and am not planning on taking dog Valium, I am just curious. I have Klonopin and it works just fine.
And when I say could take it I mean could take it safely

Chosen Answer:

humans take valium all the time. the dosing is different for humans and animals.

Is it possible to take homeopathic remedies with Valium at the same time?

It is for performance anxiety – have tried Gelsemium before but wondering could I take it with 5mg Valium to make sure. Have huge presentation to give and super nervous.

Chosen Answer:

Homeopathic remedies basically don’t have any interactions with drugs, so as long as your doctor prescribed the Valium to you and you’ve used it before (just to make sure you know how your body responds), you should have no problem at all.

How long does it take to cure anxiety?

I have anxiety and i finally told my parents about it, and im going to go see a doctor about it. But i was wondering, how long (generally) does it take to cure anxiety while seeing a specialist?
I have anxiety about getting a job. I cant apply for a job, go to an interview or even start a job without having panic attacks. If i know i have an interview coming up, from the day of the call till the day of the interview i will cry and have panic attacks everyday worrying about it. It has developed mostly in the past year or so.

Chosen Answer:

Nobody here can give you an answer. There are too many variables starting with the cause of your anxiety. Are you anxious because you know next year you have to go away to college and you fear the change? Or are you anxious because you were sexually abused when you were 6 and don’t feel safe in your surroundings? I have a good friend in her 40s that deals with this and it has improved greatly after 10+ years of therapy, but she still needs anti anxiety meds to get her through the day.
