How often can you take valium?

So I am getting a dental procedure done tomorrow and my doctor prescribed me two valium pills, one to take an hour before bed and the other to take an hour before the procedure. I was caught with some school work all night and took the one before bed just a few minutes ago at 1am. The procedure is at 7:30, so I will need to take the other one at 6:30am. That is only five and a half hours from now, so I am wondering if this is safe and how long it takes valium to wear off? Thanks for any help!

Why would I be shaky like I am shivering and valium makes it completely go away?

I’ve had several symptoms for about a week now, it appears my fever has finally gone away but I am still shaky and that causes me to feel anxious and some other things. I noticed it was the week before my menstrual cycle started and im on my very first day of it and it hasnt gone away yet but valium does work. This is the first time I’ve had really bad cramps with a period too. Could it be my hormones having problems?? What do you think?
Dr just called and said I have white blood cells in my urine so I have a bladder infection, could this relate?

Chosen Answer:

Anxiety is a body reaction to something off balance.
Do NOT keep taking valium… depending on drugs or drinks is just a cop out for learning to cope.

The more you learn to cope with things NOW, the better your chances for a full and great life.

Anxiety ??

How can I get rid of this anxiety??? I am trying to do work but I can’t focus. I have this horrible feeling that something bad is going to happen or is happening or that i need to do something. It is soo distracting. ANy help??

Chosen Answer:

I have this feeling all the time.. I try not to let it consume me.. So I just try to pay attention to what I’m doing at the moment. Sometimes it’s like you’re stuck in it.. You can’t get your mind of it.. But seriously try to focus on other tasks at hand.. I had seen a doctor but they made me more annoyed and medicines just made me more irritable.

Do Doctors still hand out valium for legitimate reasons?

I am very stressed out- work and kids. I’m 40 so grew up with the old timers stuff like valium but I know that there are prozac and the like drugs out there. I’ve had valium and trust it- is it out of date? I don’t want some new age drug that gonna make the world grow rainbows—I just would like the old school relaxant to take the edge off.

Chosen Answer:

Actually no, it’s not out of date. The top 2 anti-anxiety drugs currently prescribed by psychiatrists are xanax and valium. They’re better than prozac and drugs like that because they can be taken on an as-needed basis rather than every day for preventative purposes. Of course, it’s harder these days to get a prescription for these drugs though without extensive prior testing, because of their addictive properties and high rate of abuse. Hope this helps. : )

How do I deal with anxiety, guilt and sadness returning to work after baby?

I am returning to work in 2 weeks and am feeling extreme anxiety and guilt about leaving my 6-month baby. I haven’t been apart from him for more than 6 hours since he’s been born. Financially our family needs two incomes, and I am obligated to return to work, but am emotionally not ready. Whenever I think of it, I start crying. How can I deal with this?

Chosen Answer:

Just remember that what is good for the mother is good for the child. All involved in the family process have their own needs. Even at an early age children start to understand that they fit in to a larger picture. So getting back to work or your regular routine is really good for a baby. It provides a rythm to their world. Plus after you have picked the proper type day care for you and your child you can feel confident that the socializing they are picking up inherently is very valuable as well.

But if these feeling persist or intensify see your doctor or a therapist as post partum depression is real and terrifying.

Good luck with work! Enjoy.

My doctor gave me some valium for anxiety of going to the dentist?

Does valium work for anxiety and are there any side effects, my mother doesn’t want me to take them because she says there are some side effects.

Chosen Answer:

valium does work for anxiety, but it has more of a sedative effect than an anxiolytic effect, so it will more than likely make you tired and maybe a little loopy, depending on how tolerant you are to narcotics. there are side effects to any medication, definitely more dangerous ones with highly addictive narcotics like xanax and oxycontin. Xanax is usually preferred for anxiety, its just so addictive they rarely prescribe it for a one time thing, so valium is probably better, and he/she is your doctor so im sure what they gave you they feel you could benefit from in a safe way as long as you dont abuse the medication.

How long are you supposed to take anti anxiety medication and can it stop your abnormal anxiety for good?

I’d like to know generally how anti anxiety medications work, how long one is supposed to take them, and how a person or a doctor knows when is the right time to stop the medication.
If the anxiety is due to a chemical imbalance, does that mean the meds must be taken forever?

Chosen Answer:

Are they selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors? They build up to a maximum therapeutic level, and slowly become less and less effective as time goes on. It depends on the drug, but they are not a permanent solution. They help break the cycle of anxiety, but it is necessary to change the circumstances that provoked the anxiety to begin with. Otherwise it is likely to happen again. The doctor should have told you how long to continue with the course of treatment, or at least have advised you of the typical duration.

How does Klonopin compare with Valium and Xanax?

I am having a lot of dental work done and really don’t like Xanax and Valium has no effect on me. What can I take?

Chosen Answer:

Klonopin is generally stronger than Valium, but weaker than xanax. They are similar in the sense that they are all benzodiazapines.
